Leica M11: Hamburg
Before our expedition ship voyage with Hurtigruten Expeditions to the North Cap, we spent another night in Hamburg. Here are a few impressions of the Speicherstadt, the harbour and the Elbphilharmonie, captured with the Leica M11 and the Summicron 35mm f/2.0.
Lago di braies - is the hype justified?
On social channels, the lake has been enormously hyped for some time. On Instagram & Co. you can find thousands of photos of the Pragser Wildsee with the very special color of the water. Admittedly, I also got involved and visited the lake twice at the end of September and beginning of October 2022.
Dolomites - the beauty of a rough landscape
Rough mountains and spectacular rock formations - this is how the Dolomites present themselves, a mountain range in the Southern Limestone Alps that was formed more than 200 million years ago.
Landwasser Viaduct - built in 1901 - still an architectural masterpiece!
A must for all railway enthusiasts - beauty and boldness combined. With its 65m high piers tapering upwards, the landwasser viaduct is one of the most elegant bridge constructions in Graubünden and the most photographed work of art of the Rhaetian Railway in Switzerland.
Leica Q2 meets landscape - a good combo!
We have just returned from our trip to the south of France and on the way back we made a detour to Piedmont in Italy. For such short trips, my Leica Q2 is just perfect for capturing the landscape.
Reflections - Lake Partnun
Lake Partnun is a mountain lake in the Partnun area north-northeast of St. Antönien in the municipality of Luzein of the Prättigau-Davos district in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is located in the Rätikon at an altitude of 1868 m above sea level slightly south of the border with Vorarlberg.
Leica Summilux-R 50mm f 1.4 with Leica M10-P
Today I tested a Leica lens from the 80s with my Leica M10-P - The Leica Summilux-R 50mm f 1.4 with a corresponding R to M adapter. Since the lens is not coded and the inexpensive adapter does not allow focusing through the rangefinder, correct focusing is only possible using focus peaking via Live View.
Winter is back!
Actually, we were already looking forward to spring - but far from it! Winter is not only back in the Swiss mountains, also in the lowlands the white splendor and the cold is back. A few mood pictures from our walk today in Klosters, Graubünden. Pictures taken with my LEICA M-10P and the awesome Voigtländer APO Lanthar 35mm f/2.0 - all manual ;-)
A true Swiss UNESCO World Heritage Landscape
The following pictures were taken yesterday during a train ride with the Bernina Express from Chur through the Engadine to Poschiavo, near the Italian border. An absolut fantastic journey through a winter landscape which has rightly been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
One Lens - One Week: Fujinon GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR
Last year I bought some lenses with fixed focal lengths, which in my opinion are currently among the best lenses on the market. They are lenses that all create a special character in the image resolution and color rendering and are also fun to photograph with. At the beginning of the year 2022, I have therefore set myself a challenge.
Season's Greetings from Prättigau
Nature does not need to make an effort to be significant. It is!
In these challenging times, it's important to refocus on the important things in life at the end of the year - spending lots of time with family, friends and pets at home and in nature.
No - it's not a Sony/Columbia crossover promo shoot!
…But it could be! This opinion is not me, but participants of the indie filmmaker Facebook group "Sony FX6" think that...
The Engadin - First signs of winter coming
The Engadin, possibly derived from En, the Rhaeto-Romanic name of the river Inn) is a high valley in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is one of the highest inhabited valleys in Europe and more than 80 km long.
The Crop Master - a tribute to the Fujifilm GFX50R
As announced in the last blog entry I have ordered the GFX100S, which will hopefully be delivered at the beginning of March. I've been working with the GFX50R for over two years - now the GFX50R has found a new happy owner. Time for a tribute to the medium format Crop Master.
All In - Fujifilm GFX100S
When Fujifilm presented the brand new Fujifilm GFX100S medium format camera at the online press conference on 27 January 2021, it was clear to me that I would be following an all-in strategy with Fujifilm Medium Format in the future.
