Valencia - The film
We had already booked a house in Valencia province in 2020 and then the lockdown came. In May 2021 we have now made up for the trip to Spain and flew to Valencia with friends. We spent ten sunny and hot days in Spain at Casa del Mas, a well-known orange and lemon farm close to Canals (which a Swiss founded in the 20 years of the last century). The organic oranges are fantastic by the way! Of course, we went to Valencia and admired the huge buildings of Santiago Calatrava. But we also visited the historic town of Bocairent and went to the sea to Alicante. Except that you have to wear masks everywhere, you can feel the pulse of life here again.

Tech Specs: I filmed for the first time with the new Blackmagic 6K Pro in ProRes 4.2.2. by the way...all manual focus of course. For editing, I used Final Cut Pro as usual as well as a combination of Buttery LUT's and Filmconvert for color grading. I used the Canon EF 24-105 f4.0 IS exclusively for this film. Since I filmed everything handheld and the BMPCC 6K Pro is known to not have a stabilizer, I find this combination to be ideal as a run and gun. However, you can't get around without stabilization in post with FCP. I find with the Blackmagic 6K Pro you really achieve a special cinema look that I don't know from my Sony A7S3 even in combination with Cinetone S (with new firmware). With Blackmagic RAW I would probably get even more dynamic range, but then I would have to switch to DaVinci Resolve and I still have some respect for that because of the learning curve.

Valencia, Spain - The film.
Wir hatten im 2020 bereits ein Haus in der Provinz Valencia gebucht und dann kam der Lockdown. Im Mai 2021 haben wir nun die Reise nach Spanien nachgeholt und sind mit Freunden nach Valencia geflogen. Wir haben zehn sonnige und heisse Tage in Spanien auf Casa del Mas verbracht, einem bekannten Orangen und Zitronen Bauernhof in der Nähe von Canals (welcher übrigens ein Schweizer in den 20 Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts gegründet hat). Die Bio Orangen sind übrigens fantastisch! Unter anderem sind wir natürlich auch nach Valencia gefahren und haben die riesigen Bauten von Santiago Calatrava bestaunt. Wir haben aber auch das historische Städtchen Bocairent besucht und sind ans Meer nach Alicante gefahren. Ausser dass man überall Masken tragen muss, spürt man hier wieder den Puls des Lebens.
