Rivian R1T - First full electric SUV
I first heard the name Rivian when I watched the 3rd season of "The Long Way up" (AppleTV+) with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Covering 13,000 miles over 100 days through 16 border crossings and 13 countries, starting from the city of Ushuaia at the tip of South America, Ewan and Charley journey through the glorious and underexposed landscapes of South and Central America in their most challenging expedition to date, using cutting-edge technology on the backs of their prototype electric Harley-Davidsons Lifewire in order to contribute to the sustainability of the planet. It is a follow-up to 2004's Long Way Round where the pair rode from London to New York and then again in 2007 Long Way Down, when they rode south from John o' Groats in Scotland through eighteen countries in Europe and Africa to Cape Town in South Africa.
Two prototypes of Rivian's R1T with Director and Producer David Alexanian and Russ Malkin have accompanied Ewan and Charley during this 13’000 mile journey to L.A.
Rivian is an electric vehicle maker that builds both adventure products as well as B2B products such as Amazon last mile delivery vans. The company’s launch vehicles, the R1T and R1S, deliver up to 400+ miles of range and provide an unmatched combination of performance, off-road capability and utility.
These vehicles use the company’s flexible skateboard platform and will be produced at Rivian’s manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill., with customer deliveries expected to begin in summer 2021.

I’m a photographer and filmmaker who lives in the Grisons mountains in Switzerland. I’m working with larger equipment in remote places, so a pick-up truck would be the ideal companion. The only disadvantage is that the truck has quite large external dimensions.
