is originally a computer scientist, but has been working successfully as a photographer and filmmaker for over ten years and lives with his wife in Klosters, Switzerland.
He has attracted attention with his successful film documentary series "MEIN HÜBSCHES PRÄTTIGAU" and the current 2022/2023 portrait series "STATUS: BÜNDNER!" with well-known Swiss personalities from politics, culture, art and sport who reside in Graubünden.
This new documentary serie is financially supported by the canton of Graubünden and many other cultural foundations.
Roland has a photographic flair for not only capturing words in his documentaries, but also for conveying authentic atmospheric images and making messages resound between the lines.
In November 2023, he has successfully released the impressive documentary "CHRISTIAN BOLT - ON HUMAN BEAUTY" about the internationally renowned Swiss sculptor and painter Christian Bolt. Christian is the master of marble. His fans include Elton John and the Swedish royal family.
His passion, however, is southern Africa, where he regularly travels with his wife for wildlife photography and documentaries. His 2022 film "THE SOUL OF BOTSWANA" has received international acclaim and showcases his filmmaking skills very well.
The UK-based shortfilm rating platform SHORTFILMSMATTER.COM featured currently STEFFEN’S Documentaries "NORWAY TWILIGHT ZONE” , “THE SOUL OF BOTSWANA” and “KALAHARI - THE HIDDEN GEM” on their platform with five out of five stars.
