Flashback: Low-Res challenge in the bush
Leopard on a tree - 1.12.2009, 6.04 P.M.
In December 2009, a little more than 10 years ago, I was in South Africa for the first time. At that time I was still a Nikon Fan-Boy and my first full frame camera, the Nikon D700, had to go into the bush. At that time, 12.9 megapixels was the highest of feelings. In addition I got the "ultimate super tele zoom" Sigma 150-500mm f/5.0-6.3 - a real low-light monster...;-) The following pictures from Richard Branson's Ulusaba Game Reserve show how limited the resolution of the camera and the terrible sharpness of the lens were at that time. I edited the RAW images again yesterday with Capture One. But you can screw around as you like, the pictures just don't get sharper ;-) due to missing pixels. Nevertheless they are a good example how technology has made enormous progress in the last eleven years. Looking at the pictures like now, I would have been happy to have photographed this wonderful leopard with my current Sony A7RIV. There is endless cropping with 61 megapixels and the pictures are tack sharp. Every wildlife photographer knows what I mean. Anyway...uhhf.
What do you think, did you had the same problem in the past with low-res RAW files? Comment below.
